Mosaic Untold Lives: Women of Color Storytelling

Mosaic Season 1 Episode 0

Join Mosaic Untold Lives, a podcast by and for Women of Color, where we can be seen, heard and witnessed. Women of Color is an umbrella term for the Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and Asians of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds, who identify as womxn. We welcome women and non-binary storytellers. You don't need storytelling experience to tell a story. We’ll be telling our personal stories from our life experiences which aren’t often shared.

An untold story lives beneath every smile and every pleasant conversation with a friend. It’s there under a self-deprecating joke or when your thoughts cluster and race through your mind. When your eyes drown in pools of water as tension builds behind them, a story rising to the surface is pushed back down, deep inside. It's a form of defense. A self-made barrier between you, vulnerability and the truth.

When your story is erased from the history books, it’s easy to believe your voice is erased with it. When you don’t see yourself represented in the media, it’s easy to feel invisible.

You are invited into a space where WOC share tales of life, love, pain, exploration and reflection, wrapped in an intimate storytelling experience.

After meeting at a local storytelling event, Veronica Antipolo, and Jette Stubbs, co-founded Mosaic Untold Lives, connecting over similarities in their very different life experiences and noticing the lack of diversity in storytelling communities. Brittany Chung Campbell joined after being one of our first storytellers. What started out as an event has grown into a platform for women of colour to be seen, heard and witnessed.

Discover an untold perspective and release your inhibitions as you listen to the real, intimate, beautiful, unapologetically human, and often untold stories.

Anyone is welcomed to listen and attend live events.

Hear from our MOSAIC listeners:

“It’s hard to say what this feel like, other than that it’s right to hear them, something that makes you bigger and more humble both.”

“This made me feel like I was  a part of something larger than the environment that I’m in. I appreciate the stories and having the opportunity to relate. Such a safe place.”

“Stories were tremendous. Love the evening. Funny, sad, poignant and true.
I’ve been to over 100 storytelling shows. This is in the top three - for tellers, for content, for powerful words. Thank you.”

“It felt like a kitchen table, right after a good meal when the conversation finds that space where magic can happen. Intimate, beautiful, and powerful. An incredible evening”

“I loved this. I felt even though my story is vastly different than everyone’s story heard tonight, I was able to live and almost speak vicariously them, feel through them. I want to see/hear more.”

"In a world in which we believe we are alone, these stories remind us of the reality of human connections, 'healing through revealing' and the importance of representation. "
